WELCOME & WHAT TO EXPECT

WELCOME & WHAT TO EXPECT

Welcome!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING TO KNOW YOU

Welcome to the First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport! Our church is a community of people who try their best to love God and to love our neighbors. Central to our life together is the worship of God. From that worship grows a life of service, study, and prayer. The ways we love God and our neighbors take a variety of shapes and we hope that you will spend time learning about us and our ministries, and that you will decide to visit us for worship.

As Presbyterians we do not see today’s crossing of our paths as an accident. We believe God brought us together to join in worship, learning and fellowship. Perhaps God is calling you to live out your discipleship with us. If you have questions and want to learn more about our congregation and its ministries, contact us to be directed to a staff member who can address your area of interest.

We look forward to getting to know you and having you get to know more about us! Welcome!

What does Sunday look like at FPC?

Most of us get nervous when we go somewhere new or different. We'd like to put your mind at ease before attending a worship service at First Presbyterian Church and hope this will give you a good idea of what to expect on a Sunday morning.

THE BASICS

Worship Services begin at 10:45am on Sundays in the sanctuary. All are welcomed to our fellowship time following the worship service in our Gathering Area. There you will find snacks, drinks, coffee and a very warm welcome. Our address is 900 Jordan Street, Shreveport. Please click here for a MAP.

WHAT ABOUT SUNDAY SCHOOL?

Sunday School is from 9:30-10:30am on Sundays. Please access specific information about Sunday School for all ages under the LEARN menu on our website.

ARRIVAL AND PARKING

When you arrive at the church building you have several options for parking. Behind the church there is a large parking lot with handicap accessibility on the NORTH side along Stoner Avenue. Enter through the sliding glass doors up the walkway. Inside you will see an information desk and elevators to the right. You can also park on the WEST side of the church by the chapel or you can park in the neighboring office building parking lot, accessible on Jordan Street, on the EAST side of the church.
As you walk into the main building, you should be greeted by an usher who will hand you a bulletin and can direct you to seating. Please pick up one of our VISITOR BAGS. Small Worship Bags are available for children with age-appropriate activities.

WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS?

Children of all ages are always welcome in worship, where they can find Children's Bibles and Worship Bags to help them engage in developmentally appropriate ways. They are welcome to remain in worship, or they may go to Extended Session (CE Building Room 105) and Worship Center (3rd floor of the main building in Room 322) during the 10:45am service. Nursery care is available for infants - two year old children in the CE Building. For specific age information, look under LEARN.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

At First Presbyterian, we want you to feel comfortable. We typically dress as you would at the office. Men wear anything from suits and ties to khakis. Women wear casual dresses or pants. We come together on Sunday morning to praise God, not to impress each other.

WANT MORE INFORMATION?

We have Visitor Bags available at all the entrances into the sanctuary and in the Gathering Area. There is a weekly insert in our Sunday bulletin highlighting events at the church. There are visitor cards on hooks on the backs of the pews and you may sign in on our friendship pads which are kept at one end of each pew. The visitor cards may be filled out and placed in the offertory plate. At the information desk on the first floor, you can find current printed materials. Please contact us if you'd like to talk to a church staff member to find out more about First Presbyterian at 318-222-0604 or visit our Staff page on this website.
