Fulfilling the Vision

The present location of First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport was completed in 1925, and it had been a number of years since the most recent renovation. A new chapel was added in 1952 on the west side of the property. Then the Children’s Building was completed on the east side of the church in 1965.

It had been realized in recent years that the church needed to have another capital campaign for renovating the church facilities because of years of deferred maintenance and the need for updating the building. After some time of discussion and planning for a major renovation, the Session voted in 2008 to begin a capital project campaign. A Capital Campaign Steering Committee was formed with the approval of the Session in April 2008 to plan and provide oversight for a major capital project campaign for the church. Members of this steering committee include a chairman, the Pastor Head of Staff, and six other members, each of whom would co-chair one of three major task forces for this project. These three task forces were for Visioning, Fund Raising, and Construction. This Steering Committee recommended to the Session that this capital project be named “Fulfilling the Vision”.
